On July 9, 2019 ASSP South Plains Chapter (SPC) members Ben Maldonado, SPC President 2019-2020, and Cricket McWilliams participated in the Excavation Safety Day event at the Lubbock Fire Training facility.
Keitha Molina, Damage Prevention Manager for 811 and President of the Permian Basin Chapter ASSP invited the South Plains Chapter to participate in their event. During the event Chapter members had the opportunity to meet new people and talk about many safety-related topics and possible future partnerships.
Ben stated that it was a, “tremendous opportunity
for us to take a few minutes to strengthen both professional and personal relationships.” He would also like to thank the South Plains Chapter members were able to participate on short notice. Our South Plains Chapter was also able to donate a door prize for the event as well. Everyone not only had a great time at the event, but was reminded of the importance of calling 811 before you dig. Whether it’s a shovel or a backhoe, nicking a gas pipeline or severing an electric line both can have serious consequences. Safety is a shared responsibility.
A sincere thanks to Keitha and the 811 team for inviting our South Plains Chapter to this event, and for waiving the registration fee for our booth space.
